Gaza, Palestine

There is no 'just' war
Perhaps this story can put a more personal touch to a far away war.

Is Peace Out Of Reach?

Has peace in the Middle East become nothing more than a pipe dream? As Bob Simon reports, a growing number of Israelis and Palestinians feel that a two-state solution is no longer possible.

Canada refuses to condemn Israeli actions against Gaza.
  • "Marius Grinius, Canada's representative on the council, said the language of the motion, which accused Israel of sparking a humanitarian crisis, was "unnecessary, unhelpful and inflammatory."" - TheStar

UN Human Rights issued proposal condemning Israeli actions against Gaza.
  • Read through the proposal, use the test:
    1. is it unnecessary?
    2. is it unhelpful?
    3. is it inflammatory?

The other side of the story

She says the following:
  • the UN council fails to address many other humanitarian crisis such as Danfur
  • "cranking out a foolishly biased indictment", I fail to see which part of the indictment is false though
  • "while failing to include any acknowledgment of human rights violations by Hamas", she seem to have failed in her research, as UN condemned the rocket attacks on many occasions
  • the US decided not to partake in this council to vote, hence not excerising its right to vote, alot of European countries decided to sit on the fence, and pretty much = no vote. So none of them wish to partake in these democratic proceedings *shrugs*
  • the other countries of the council, "deny any human rights to their own citizens", any is a very absolute word, pointing out that the other country members of the council are hypocrates doesn't make their indictment any less valid... I steal a candy bar, and when you do it, I tell you its wrong... it makes me a hypocrate but it doesn't make stealing 'right'.
  • "shaming the abstainers who proved themselves to have no principles at all, no nerve, in hitting the mute button rather than risking the wrath of belligerent regimes" She called the other 33 countries lacking in principle. Lets use some principle here... when 33 people are disagreeing with you and another few are staying silent, theres a good chance that you, yourself are wrong
  • "Media reports noted that the adopted motion calls for investigation of "grave" human rights violations by the Israeli forces. That's the Reader's Digest version. In fact, the motion is four pages long and an invective screed that blames Israel entirely for the crisis, thus unilaterally responsible for the consequences." Not far from the truth, except she had to look one step back, and blame the US and the beginning of Israel.
  • "There is no mention of Hamas and other Palestinian groups using civilians as shields or lobbing rockets into Israel. It vilifies Israel for the "collective punishment" of Palestinians but says not a word about Hamas leaders urging the blood of Jewish children be spilled everywhere." Lovely... the human shield concept. At what point do you say collateral damage is too much. A militant is in a school full of children, therefore the school gets bombed, militant is dead. A few militants are in an apartment full of civilians, therefore the apartment gets bombed, a few militants are dead. A bunch of militants are hiding in Gaza amoungst civilians, therefore Gaza gets nuclear bombed, the bunch of militants are dead. They should use the US supplied smart bombs more effectively.
Suspected DIME use in Gaza.

Known white phosphorous use... but its not an illegal weapon.

Oops myyy baddd. Israeli bombs UN HQ.
  • all GPS locations of UN HQ,schools...etc were given to Israeli forces prior to the bombings of them

LOL the title says it all. "Israelis hit school, Ottawa blames Hamas"
  • logic based on facts: Hamas militants are in the School, therefore bomb the school to kill Hamas militants.
  • based on the above logic: 'Terrorists' are in Afghanistan, therefore lets nuke Afghanistan to get rid of 'terrorist'
  • flaw much no?

In every lie there is some truth. In every poltical statement there are many lies. This maybe propaganda, find the lies, more importantly... find the truths

So did warring make things for the better or worst?

Khadr Trial

Geneva Conventions : After all that's said and done, more is said than done.
  • "Children rights activists argue that international law stipulates that those under the age of 18 captured in armed conflict must be rehabilitated. But prosecutors here say that doesn't apply to Khadr's case." - TheStar
  • Translation of the Above: "Yes, we (US) know he's a child soldier and should be rehabilitated. But we'll make an exception for him :)"

Torture him until he confesses :)
